Artists and craftspeople are at the center of any successful organ, and we’re proud of our dedicated, talented staff. Since the company’s founding, leadership has always been in the hands of musicians, and our workforce is known for its professionalism and long company tenures. The focus and experience this provides is vital to our developing an instrument that is as reliable as it is musical.

  • Chairman and Tonal Advisor

    Jack Bethards is Chairman and Tonal Advisor of Schoenstein & Co., garnishing an international reputation for excellence in tonal design and finishing. He purchased the company in 1977 after a career in business management and consulting. Jack’s musical training comes from decades of conducting and playing in orchestras.

  • President and Tonal Director

    Bryan Dunnewald is President and Tonal Director of Schoenstein & Co., where he oversees all aspects of the company with a focus on musical direction and business management. Bryan’s lifelong fascination with organ building developed alongside a career in conducting and organ performance before he took up organ building full time.

  • Director of Planning and Engineering

    Erik Asprey is Director of Planning and Engineering, overseeing the design and construction of every organ. A California native raised in Germany, Erik joined the company as a woodworker in 2007 with experience in the luxury kitchen and bath industry.

  • Director of Operations

    Chris Hansford joined Schoenstein & Co. in 1991 and is Director of Operations. Throughout his decades-long tenure he has specialized in assembly, erecting, installation, console construction, and service.

  • Head Voicer and Technical Director

    Timothy Fink, Head Voicer and Technical Director, joined Schoenstein & Co. in 2017 with experience in pipe making and voicing. He has overseen new organs and restorations, owning his own firm in New York City prior to moving to California.

  • Service Manager

    David Anderson, Service Manager, is an expert field technician and draftsman. His dual roles in engineering and service ensure new organs are serviceable. He holds degrees in organ performance and continues his church music career alongside his work at Schoenstein.

  • Controller

    Yolanda Mascote has a background in public and private sector finance. She serves as Controller and oversees the company’s accounting, human resources, and purchasing.

  • Aly Aly is a woodworker and finisher originally from Syria. He once built and finished the interior of a coffee shop, and puts that varied experience to work in organ building.

  • Ryan Anderson has a background in joinery and works in the mill, building some of the smallest and largest components of the organ. He builds chests that provide wind to the organ pipes.

  • Drue Berti, a Solano County native, works in assembly and erecting, where all details of the organ come together. In addition to his work in organ building, Drue builds and plays electric guitars.

  • Ann Bharoocha, Administrative Assistant, is originally from India. She assists in managing the office and communications for the company. Ann joined Schoenstein in 1997.

  • Bronwyn Burns is an experienced artist who works in leathering, chest assembly, and service. Before beginning a career in organ building, she held leadership positions in video game design and was a freelance Hollywood set artist.

  • Logan Caraway works in voicing and the pipe shop, moving pipes from silence to speech. He also works on the service team, taking care of organs throughout the Bay Area. Logan regularly performs as a bassist in venues across Northern California.

  • Forrest Martin-Ruben came to Schoenstein with a background in visual arts and detail craftwork. He works in assembly, erecting, and service, with a comprehensive view of how organs come together and are maintained.

  • Abigail Nelson came to organ building from a background in facilities maintenance. She works in our leather and assembly shops. In addition to her work in organ building, Abigail plays drum set.

  • Patricia Schneringer is a leather specialist who began her career in organ building restoring a local theater organ. She joined the company in 2005 and works in the leather and assembly shops, making actions and chests.

  • Louis Patterson is the past President of Schoenstein & Co. and now serves as a consultant in retirement. His five-decade career in organ building, which also included serving as a church musician, led to countless innovations in new instruments and the creation of the Schoenstein tuning method.
